Jiuhua fan has a history of more than 2200 years in China, and its traceable inheritance has been more than 140 years.
The earliest historical record is in the Western Han Dynasty, written by Liu Xin and copied by Ge Hong in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Volume 1 of Xijing miscellany records that the Han Palace fans include mica fans, peacock fans, emerald feather fans, Jiuhua fans and five Ming fans.
During the Eastern Han Dynasty, Emperor Heng of the Han Dynasty rewarded the Jiuhua fan to Cao Teng, which was handed down to future generations. During the northern and Southern Dynasties, Liang Shen wrote about "singing bamboo lanterns": "although it is a Jiuhua fan, chatting can purify the inflammatory atmosphere."

In the Yanjing chapter by Ou Daren of the Ming Dynasty, "the dust chases the demon child and the nine Chinese fan".
During the Qing Dynasty, the Han Palace fan declined and was gradually forgotten. It was not until the Republic of China, when Gan Xianhua founded the Jiuhua fan workshop and improved the Han Palace fan that the Jiuhua fan was inherited. There were Jiuhua fans in every dynasty and they were deeply loved by people.
